In this story:

The Carolina Panthers interviewed Chiefs vice president of football operations Brandt Tilis and Ravens vice president of football administration Nick Matteo for the general manager opening, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Tilis interviewed for this position three years ago and is well thought of around the league, so it's no surprise that his name has popped up again. He has been the main orchestrator in contract negotiations for the Chiefs since 2017 which makes a lot of sense given that he cut his teeth in the business as a Salary Cap/Contract Analyst.

Matteo handles the day-to-day responsibilities with the salary cap and roster transactions. Since he landed in Baltimore in 2019, he has negotiated several contracts with draft picks, free agents, and in-house guys, including tight end Mark Andrews, offensive lineman Ronnie Stanley, and safety Chuck Clark. Prior to accepting the position in Baltimore, he spent nine years with the NFL Management Council.
