Spread & Over/Under Predictions for Panthers at Falcons

In this story:

Each week, we at All Panthers will release an article on our thoughts on the spread and the over/under of Carolina Panther games. The star ratings next to the play describe the overall confidence in that particular play.

Star ratings:

1 Star - Not very confident

2 Star - A little confident

3 Star - Fairly confident

4 Star - Very confident

5 Star - Should be a lock to happen

Spread: Falcons -3.5

1 Star play on the Falcons covering: This is the first time the Panthers' defense will be at full strength (assuming Brian Burns plays) and although the talent is there, it's going to take some time to settle in and understand how everyone on the field plays. On the flip side, rookie QBs starting in Week 1 haven't won the season opener in 21 years. Carolina will be the better team by the end of the season. But not in Week 1.

Over/Under: 39.5

2 Star play on the under: 14 of the last 20 games between Atlanta and Carolina have remained under the number. Two young quarterbacks going at it head to head in Week 1 screams under. Both teams start out slow offensively, so maybe even a first half under play could be something worth looking at.

My picks last season:

ATS: 8-8 (50%)

Over/Unders: 9-7 (56%)

Total: 17-15 (53%)
