Austin Corbett is 'Ahead of Schedule'

In this story:
Starting right guard Austin Corbett is one of four Carolina Panthers who will begin training camp on the PUP list, joining fellow offensive lineman Chandler Zavala.
Corbett tore his ACL in the regular season finale against the New Orleans Saints and head coach Frank Reich said during the spring that he wouldn't be surprised if he missed a few weeks to begin the 2023 season
On Tuesday, General Manager Scott Fitterer provided reporters with some good news in regard to Corbett's progress along with who will be pushing for that right guard spot in his absence.
"It's a wide-open competition. The good thing is, we have numbers in there. We have versatility in there. Brady [Christensen] is back. He's fully healthy. Austin [Corbett] is pushing to get back. He's ahead of schedule. We'll see what that means and we won't know until like cut day where he's at. But those young guys really need to push. And [Chandler] Zavala coming in, unfortunately, he tweaked his hamstring last week so he's going to be a couple weeks but he'll be in that mix. So, it's going to be Zavala, Cade Mays, Justin McCray all pushing."
Fitterer did mention Cade Mays as someone who will "play a role" while Corbett is on his way back, so perhaps he is the favorite to fill in as the interim right guard.
