Mock drafts are fun to do this time of the year, but it's hard to accurately predict what exactly a team's needs will be until the first wave of free agency is over. CBS Sports combined the two offseason periods, taking the mock draft to free agency, putting the teams in order by their projected 2024 cap space.

In this exercise, Cody Benjamin predicts Carolina Panthers linebackers Brian Burns and Frankie Luvu to the Washington Commanders and Pittsburgh Steelers, respectively.

"A reunion with Kirk Cousins would be intriguing, but presuming they address quarterback in the actual draft, the Dan Quinn-led Commanders instead look to replenish their stripped-down pass rush with the best edge presence available."

"A QB like Ryan Tannehill would make sense here, but the Steelers have been swinging at linebackers for years. Luvu finally gives them a fast, physical, ascending playmaker whose blitzing skills should pair nicely with those of T.J. Watt."

A handful of spots down the "draft" at No. 12, Benjamin has Carolina signing Bryce Huff of the New York Jets.

"With Brian Burns cashing in elsewhere, the Panthers quickly address their gaping hole at edge rusher by betting on the ascending Huff, who shined in limited snaps for Robert Saleh's stingy Jets defense."
