In this story:

Friday afternoon, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Jacksonville Jaguars starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence (right shoulder) will not play in this Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers.

Lawrence has been dinged up over the past few games, dealing with ankle and shoulder injuries along with a concussion. This will mark the first time in Lawrence's career that he will miss a game due to injury. The Jaguars can't afford to lose Lawrence at this juncture of the season as they've lost four straight and are now tied atop the AFC South standings with the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans.

CJ Beathard will fill in this week as the starter. In 31 career games, Beathard has thrown for 3,708 yards and 19 touchdowns to 14 interceptions while completing passes at a 59.9% clip.
