In this story:

The Carolina Panthers have never drafted a player from Clemson in the history of their franchise. It's hard to believe considering the campus is just a little over two hours away from the Queen City and how much talent the program pumps into the NFL.

All eyes will be focused on offensive line and wide receiver prospects for Carolina at No. 33 and while those are their two top needs, it doesn't necessarily mean that's the direction they'll go in. Panthers GM Dan Morgan stated earlier this week that they'll likely go best player available with that top pick in the second round.

One name to keep a close eye on that's not a receiver or lineman is Clemson cornerback, Nate Wiggins. There's a chance he gets taken in the back end of the first round but he'll more than likely be available when the Panthers are on the clock.

Wiggins blew people away with his 40-yard time of 4.28 at the combine and with his length, he projects to be a quality starter at the next level. In his final two seasons at Clemson, he recorded 58 tackles, 19 passes defended, and three interceptions.

According to Kassidy Hill of Panthers.com, Wiggins met formally with Carolina at the combine.

Scouting report by Lance Zierlein of NFL.com:

"Wiggins’ combination of coverage talent and traits could make him a defensive coordinator’s dream. He’s tall, long and fast with rare recovery speed when beaten. Silky smooth lower-body movement allows him to mirror releases and trace routes without much effort. He can squeeze a little tighter from off-man coverage, while his range as a Cover 3 cornerback makes him a dangerous option to throw near. He plays with good recognition and elite burst to the throw, which could lead to Pro Bowl production if he can play with more consistent decisiveness. He needs to become a tougher player in run support and when contesting catches against NFL size. Wiggins' speed, scheme versatility and playmaking instincts should make him the most sought after cornerback in the draft."
