In this story:

On Thursday, the Carolina completed virtual interviews with Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris for the head coaching position.

This brings the interview total up to seven as these two join Panthers interim head coach Chris Tabor, Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken, Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, and Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith. Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is scheduled to meet with Carolina today.

Although recency bias is a thing for fans, it is not expected to play much of a factor in Dan Quinn's chances of getting a head coaching job this cycle. He has interest from Seattle and Tennessee in addition to Carolina. Quinn coordinated the defense in Seattle's run to the Super Bowl which led to his first head coaching gig with the Atlanta Falcons. In five years and some change with Atlanta, Quinn went 43-42 with a Super Bowl appearance.

Morris is also in search of his second opportunity as a full-time head coach. After a couple of years coordinating the defense in Tampa Bay, he was awarded the head job in 2009. Unfortunately, his stint lasted just three seasons after compiling a record of 17-31. He served as the Falcons' interim head coach in 2020 and went 4-7.

In-person interviews are not allowed to take place until Monday, January 22nd.
