BREAKING: Panthers Hire Dan Morgan as GM

In this story:

Monday evening, the Carolina Panthers announced that Dan Morgan has been hired as the team's new general manager.

"Dan has a thorough knowledge of our football personnel and a clear vision to take us where we all want to go," Panthers owner David Tepper said in the news release. "We know he will attack this opportunity with the same intensity he did as a Panthers player."

Morgan spent all seven of his playing years in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers. He racked up 390 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, seven sacks, and five interceptions and played a big role on the 2003 team that made it to the Super Bowl.

The one thing the Panthers have lacked over the last handful of years is a clear vision. Morgan knows exactly what it takes to win in Carolina and the type of people the organization needs in the building for that to happen.

The Panthers also interviewed Giants assistant GM Brandon Brown, Eagles assistant GM Alec Halaby, Buccaneers assistant GM Mike Greenberg, Chiefs vice president of football operations Brandt Tilis, Saints assistant GM Khai Harley, Ravens vice president of football administration Nick Matteo, Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds, Raiders interim GM Champ Kelly, and Lions Chief Operating Officer Mike Disner for the job.
