Panthers Hire Shawn Jefferson as Receivers Coach

The Panthers have been big on experience when piecing together this coaching staff. They made another big, respected hire on Saturday by agreeing to terms with Vanchi LaShawn "Shawn" Jefferson Sr. as wide receivers coach - aka Shawn Jefferson.

Why include the full name? Well the first part of his name, Van, may sound familiar. His son is Los Angeles Rams wide receiver, Van Jefferson.

Jefferson has worked in the NFL since 2006, where he got his start with the Detroit Lions, an organization he spent seven years with. He worked with one of the best receivers of this century in Calvin Johnson from 2007-12. Most recently, Jefferson was the receivers coach in Arizona where he got to coach up DeAndre Hopkins.

Jefferson comes to Carolina with a successful past and will look to help take DJ Moore's game to the next level along with developing Terrace Marshall Jr. into possibly a No. 2 receiver.
