In this story:

When the Carolina Panthers are on the clock with the 33rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, there will likely be a handful of receivers worth considering.

There's a cluster of prospects at the position who are viewed as back end of the first round/early second round talents. But there's no clarity as to which will be available when it's Carolina's turn to pick.

Some of those fringe first round picks - Brian Thomas Jr. (LSU), Keon Coleman (Florida State), Xavier Worthy (Texas), and Troy Franklin (Oregon)- put together a nice week at the NFL Combine, helping solidify or increase their stock. Of the group, Thomas is the most likely to come off the board in the first round.

Worthy set a combine record with the fastest 40-time ever recorded at 4.21. Thomas checked in with the second-best time among receiver at 4.33 and Franklin ended up in the top 10 with a time of 4.41. Meanwhile, Coleman ran a 4.62 which sparked some conversation but he played with great speed in the on-field drills, operating faster than much of the group.

Prior to their on-field work in Indy, players took the podium to field questions from the media and each were asked about their thoughts on the idea of playing with Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers.

Keon Coleman

"I'd give him a very reliable target. He has Adam Thielen, but I feel like I would bring a different dynamic to that offense. Touchdowns and consistency with hands."

Xavier Worthy

"Bryce being there. I feel like Bryce kind of got a bad look this year. I feel like that's not him. I threw with Bryce a little bit in California. I feel like I can be that receiver for him that Jameson Williams was in college for him."

Troy Franklin

"I've seen him play with Jameson Williams before and I think we are low key similar in some ways. I think I could help Bryce and that team a lot."

Brian Thomas Jr.

"Being able to play for any NFL team excites me. They have a great young quarterback in Bryce Young. Just being able to play with him would be great.

Trade Up for a WR? That Would Be a Mistake for the Panthers
