Henderson, Nev. -- The Las Vegas Raiders (6-3) are playing host today on Sunday Night Football to their rival, the Kansas City Chiefs (8-1).

The Raiders won the last game on the road, but the Vegas oddsmakers understand that the Chiefs are the reigning Super Bowl champs for a reason.

Remember the rule of five. If the Las Vegas Raiders win that, games are over. For those who don't remember it, it has to do with sacks and turnovers. If the Raiders have three sacks and give up two, that means they are plus one. If they then get four turnovers and give up only one, that means they are plus three. That would give them a plus-four for the day. They want to get to a plus-five ratio every game. Teams that reach the rule of five scenarios win 91 percent of their ball games on average.

HALFTIME REPORT:

Did anyone in the country not expect an offensive showdown?

The Raiders lead 17-14 at halftime.

The Silver and Black quickly got things rolling in Sin City, a quick 3:35 possession resulting in a two-yard punch-in rush by running back Josh Jacobs.

As the Raiders have shown all-season long, Jacobs got the offense ignited and a couple of receivers in the name of wide receiver Nelson Agholor and tight end Darren Waller quickly moved the ball down the field.

Taking about double the time, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and co responded with a touchdown of their own. His primary target was wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who caught five passes for 37 yards in that possession.

Hill caught 5 passes for 37 yards and one touchdown in the first half.

It only took the rest of the quarter for the Raiders to respond.

The second possession for Las Vegas started in excellent field possession after the kick-off went out of bounds. Again, Carr didn’t have to depend on a single player but rather, threw to multiple targets including an 11-yard pass to fullback Alex Ingold and a 17-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Nelson Agholor.

Carr threw 13 for 16 in the first half for 183 yards including one touchdown.

It didn’t take long for the Arrowheads to respond.

At one point, three penalties were called, hopping back and forth between the two sides. Mahomes threw a couple of incompletions. Yet at the end, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire punched a three-yard rushing touchdown.

In fact, Edwards-Helaire has been busy tonight. He’s rushed the ball eight times for 43 yards.

As for Mahomes, he’s been doing his usual thing on the field.

He’s thrown the ball 14 for 21 for 145 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

The first hiccup of the game came for Las Vegas first, as they failed to punch the ball into the red zone on their third trip.

After unsportsmanlike conduct called on the Las Vegas bench, the Raiders settled for a 35-yard field goal booted through the uprights by placekicker Daniel Carlson.

When the field flipped, thanks to multiple penalties called on the Chiefs and great defensive work by cornerback Isaiah Johnson and safety Johnathan Abram on third-down, Kansas City was forced to punt the ball away.

That was the first punt of the game. It happened with 2:07 left to go in the half.

Within 40 seconds, the Raiders punt the ball as well, giving the ball back to the Chiefs with 1:24 left to go with three timeouts.

It looked the Chiefs were going to grab some points until cornerback Trayvon Mullen intercepted a ball intended for wide receiver Demarcus Robinson.

While it has been an offensive showdown on the field with neither side really taking control, the end of the half showed a glimpse of defense from both sides.

Chiefs will receive the ball in the second half.

START OF THIRD QUARTER:
