Raiders NFL Draft Prospects: Cody Mauch

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders are evaluating NFL Draft prospects at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Ind.
The biggest story regarding the Raiders is their search for the team’s next quarterback and the possibility that he is in this draft class. Coach Josh McDaniels and General Manager Dave Ziegler have both been asked about it in interviews.
While the Raiders could find their next quarterback in this draft, one area they could also add to is their offensive line. The Raiders have six offensive linemen set to hit free agency, and even if they re-sign some of those players, they will still need to add depth to the position.
One offensive lineman who could be available to the Raiders during one of their first few selections is North Dakota State offensive lineman Cody Mauch, who played a lot of tackle for the Bison but could play multiple positions at the next level.
Let’s look closer at Mauch and see if he could fit in the Silver and Black.
Mauch walked on at North Dakota State in 2017 and redshirted. Eventually, he became a starter and was named a Second Team AP All-American and First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference. Mauch played both tackle positions throughout his two years as a starter for the Bison.
Mauch received an invite to the Senior Bowl after an excellent senior season and had a strong week, playing multiple positions on the offensive line and earning recognition as a potential first-round selection.
Mauch plays with the required level of toughness for an NFL offensive lineman and is at his best as a run blocker. However, he does not have the desired arm length to be a full-time offensive tackle and sometimes struggles in pass protection, so it’s possible he could move inside once he gets to the NFL.
Mauch is projected to be a second-round pick and could be available for the Raiders as a day-two selection. If the Raiders draft Mauch, it will be their discretion whether they want to move him inside or allow him to play tackle.
Whether Mauch is a guard or a tackle at the next level, there’s no denying the toughness and relentlessness he plays with.
