INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has been one of the best players in the league at his position for several seasons.

Adams is one of the best route runners in the league and consistently gets open, making big plays for the Raiders when needed.

His play has inspired younger wide receivers in the league to emulate elements of his game.

The NFL Scouting Combine is underway in Indianapolis, Ind., a chance for teams to meet with and learn about potential 2024 NFL Draft prospects. Many receiver prospects have mentioned they look up to Adams and try to model their games after him.

Wide receiver Adonai Mitchell of Texas is one of those receivers. He said what it would mean to play for the Raiders alongside Adams and why he models his game after the three-time First-Team All-Pro.

Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell said he studies Las Vegas Raiders star Davante Adams' tape to improve his own game.

“It would truly mean a lot,” Mitchell said. “I study Davante’s film a whole lot, since he was with the Packers. Just the way he plays the game, his style of play, I feel like it definitely fits me too, and kind of what I’m trying to do and how I’m trying to play. Just being able to pick up little nuggets from him would mean a lot.”

Mitchell is a tall and slender receiver at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds. After spending the first two seasons of his college career at Georgia, Mitchell transferred to Texas and finished his college career with 93 receptions for 1,405 yards and 18 touchdowns.

The most appealing element of Mitchell’s game is his speed and explosiveness. He also knows how to use his size when matched up against a defensive back, going up over the top of a defender to make a big play.

Mitchell profiles as an outside receiver at the next level, someone who can make big plays for a team, similar to Adams. He is projected to be a second-round selection in a draft with so many talented receivers.

The Raiders have their top two receivers in Adams and Jakobi Meyers but could look to add more receiving talent later in the draft. If they have the opportunity to draft Mitchell, they could make their passing attack much more dynamic.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
