The Las Vegas Raiders have made moves at the beginning of the free agency period, finding ways to improve the roster and make the necessary changes to become a postseason team.

Whether they’re making big splashes like signing star defensive tackle Christian Wilkins or adding veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew, the Raiders have been active in the first two days of free agency.

However, with the additions in free agency also come the departures. The Raiders also lost cornerback Amik Robertson, who signed a contract with the Detroit Lions.

General Manager Tom Telesco and Coach Antonio Pierce now have to find a player to replace Robertson’s production.

They could find that player in the 2024 NFL Draft in the form of Florida State cornerback Renardo Green. A high riser in recent weeks, Green has propelled his draft stock.

Green spent five seasons with the Seminoles and finished his career with 148 total tackles, seven for losses, a forced fumble, an interception and half a sack. He was selected to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Second Team in 2023.

What has caused Green to rise so high recently is his resurfaced week one performance against LSU and their first-round talents at wide receiver.

Green did an excellent job against Malik Nabers, who might be a top-10 NFL Draft selection, and Brian Thomas Jr., another potential first-round selection.

The Las Vegas Raiders could target high-rising Florida State cornerback Renardo Green in the 2024 NFL Draft.

According to Pro Football Focus, Green allowed only three receptions on six targets for 28 yards in the game. He broke up a pass on a fade route intended for Nabers and was often stride-for-stride with Thomas.

Press-man coverage is Green’s specialty. At 6 feet, 186 pounds, he is tall and long enough to match receivers of all sizes and skill sets. His quick footwork and fluid hips allow him to change direction and prevent receivers from creating space against him.

According to PFF, Green was targeted 54 times and allowed only 29 receptions for 269 yards last season. He went eight straight weeks without allowing a touchdown.

Green needs to improve his ball production to be a true No. 1 cornerback in the NFL. He had only one interception in college and often failed to locate the ball in the air. If he can improve on coming down with interceptions, he will be a much more valuable player in the NFL.

Although Green is projected to be a third-round selection but could see his stock continue to rise. If the Raiders are looking for a player who will be lock-down cornerback in coverage, Green could be a perfect fit.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
