Raiders NFL Draft Prospect: WR Xavier Legette, SC

The Las Vegas Raiders need a receiver who can earn significant yards after catch, like 2024 NFL Draft prospect Xavier Legette.

The Las Vegas Raiders have one of the league's top wide receivers with Davante Adams, but the team didn't have a single player rank in the NFL's Top-25 yards-after-catch (YAC) leaders.

Enter NFL prospect Xavier Legette, the University of South Carolina's No. 1 wide receiver in the 2023 season.

Legette finished the season eighth in the nation in total receiving yards (1,255) and recorded seven receiving touchdowns as well. His 71 receptions on the year tied him with former Raider wide receiver Bryan Edwards for the fifth-most in a single season in program history.

The super senior would be named to the All-SEC Second Team by coaches, as well as the Associated Press All-SEC Second Team as both a wide receiver and an all-purpose back. He was also named a third-team All-American by Phil Steele and College Football Network.

Legette is incredibly fast, as he has a 40-yard-dash time of 4.29 seconds. Such a strength would complement the speed of Las Vegas' other young wideout Tre Tucker. His speed allows him to beat defenders on vertical routes, which would serve well for a Raiders team that -- if led by Antonio Pierce -- will likely continue to place an emphasis on the deep ball next season.

A fifth season was all Legette needed to take a giant leap in his college football career. The season prior, he had recorded just 167 yards on 18 receptions. In fact, up until his final season, Legette had totaled just 423 receiving yards, almost a third of his total for the 2023 season.

Legette will likely be available when the Raiders draft at No. 13 in the 2024 NFL Draft. He might not be their first choice for a receiver prospect, but there could be at least a handful of wide receivers that go in the first round in this year's draft.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
