Aidan O'Connell Week 18 Rookie of the Week Nominee

For the third straight time this season, Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell is nominated for Rookie of the Week.

This time, the rookie quarterback is nominated for his phenomenal performance in Week 18 against the Denver Broncos at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

In the Raiders season finale 27-14 victory over the Broncos, O'Connell finished with a 110.1 passer rating, his second-best mark of the season,right behind his 120.7 passer rating in Week 15. He completed 20-of-31 for 244 yards and two touchdowns against Denver.

In his rookie season with the Silver and Black, O'Connell had a passer rating of 83.9 with 2,218 yards, 12 touchdown passes and seven interceptions in 12 games.

On Monday, Raiders Interim Coach Antonio Pierce had the chance to express his thoughts to the media on O'Connell's potential to be a starter in the NFL and his performance overall against the Broncos in the season finale.

"Well, I think he already has," Pierce said. "I mean, there's been a lot of quarterback changes in the National Football League. Some teams are on their third and fourth quarterback. And I think for Aidan [O'Connell], what you've seen is a kid be very poised, more vocal. I thought last night was huge.

"I like what Aidan has done as far as how he carries himself on and off the field, and in this building. I get he's a rookie, he's a little bit older, he carries himself like a pro.

"Aidan has really done a good job of putting himself in position going forward to be in consideration to be a starting quarterback in the National Football League."
