Las Vegas Raiders Coach Antonio Pierce has been around the game of football long enough to know what a successful offensive line looks like and in turn, what a winning team looks like.

"I mean, to me, how I would like to build this team -- I think me and [General Manager Tom] Telesco see it the same way -- it's got to be built in the trenches, man," Pierce said at the NFL Combine on Feb. 28. "I get it, we go and get a skill guy, we get a quarterback, but hell, nobody blocking for him, what does it matter? So really, I would love to see us just really be really sound up front, man.

"I thought our offensive line, the last part of the season, did a hell of a job, man. I thought they got together, they battled, you got guys battling through injuries, and they didn't want to miss one snap, and they played for one another. But you want to have that consistent group each and every week.

"And then, you want to have a core group of guys. Again, I was fortunate for the organization I played for, that those guys played together for seven years consecutively, and that was impressive to see.

"And when you look at teams across the league, I know it's hard in free agency, but you would like to see that group, because that's the most -- that's the one position where you've got the most players on the field at one time, right? Those five O-linemen. And most teams when they have this, are pretty Goddamn good, regardless of who's at quarterback or at running back because they set the tone.

"And I think our guys really took pride in that. Kolton Miller did a hell of a job, Jermaine [Eluemunor][Thayer] MunfordDylan [Parham], I mean, those guys, man, they battle their ass off. And I know it's free agency, you don't know who's going to come back and go, but whoever we put in those places, man, that's going to be the mindset."

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
