Raiders Defensive Matchups to Watch vs. Bills

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders are facing a tough opponent on the road in the Buffalo Bills.
The Raiders are looking to remain undefeated, and after an impressive defensive effort in Week 1, are hoping to have another one against an explosive Bills offense.
Defensive Coordinator Patrick Graham will try to find a way to slow down quarterback Josh Allen, which is a tall task, considering his ability to beat defenses with both his arm and his legs.
There are some intriguing match-ups to watch on defense, from how Graham will scheme players into advantageous positions to individual match-ups on the boundaries.
Let’s take a closer look at three match-ups to monitor when the Raiders are on defense.
Cornerback Marcus Peters vs. wide receiver Stefon Diggs -- This is going to be one of the biggest individual matchups in the entire game.
Peters and Diggs are both known for the passion and flare they possess in their games, and it can be explosive when they match up. Expect these two players to each get the best of each other on a few reps, like wide receiver Davante Adams and cornerback Patrick Surtain II did last week.
With two experienced and talented players match up on the boundary like Peters and Diggs, there is sure to be fireworks.
Defensive end Maxx Crosby vs. Bills offensive tackles -- Crosby had an excellent game in Week 1, and expects to have another one against the Bills.
The Bills’ have a solid left tackle in Dion Dawkins, but Spencer Brown had a rough showing against the New York Jets and now draws a match-up with one of the best defensive ends in the NFL.
Crosby will have a good test against Dawkins and a favorable match-up against Brown. The Raiders will need Crosby to be in the backfield and bother Allen if they want to have a shot to win the game.
Raiders’ linebackers vs. the Bills’ running game -- The Bills have solid running backs, but they also have a ground threat in their quarterback.
Linebackers Divine Deablo and Robert Spillane will have to be up to the task of slowing down Allen’s rushing ability, all while containing James Cook as well.
Stopping Allen and the Bills rushing attack is one way to limit their offensive explosiveness, and it will be paramount to the Raiders’ chances of winning.
The Silver and Black remain on the road this week as they travel to play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 1:05 p.m. EDT/10:05 a.m. PDT.
