Panthers Request to Interview Raiders Assistant Coach

The Las Vegas Raiders' offensive line has performed well over the last two seasons. Their play has earned a few of their coaches opportunities elsewhere.

The Las Vegas Raiders still are searching for a new offensive coordinator and offensive line coach after they parted ways with Bo Hardegree and Carmen Bricillo accepted the offensive line coaching position with the New York Giants.

The Raiders could be without another coach soon.

With the Raiders having so many new faces in important positions, they will likely lose some players and coaches from this season to new opportunities elsewhere.

While Bricillo left for New York weeks ago, his assistant, Cameron Clemmons, still is with the Raiders, but he has caught the eye of other teams around the National Football League.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Carolina Panthers have requested to interview Clemmons for their offensive line coaching position, which would be a promotion for him. Clemmons, a former offensive lineman, has spent years climbing the coaching ranks. He now has the chance to take another step.

Before joining the Raiders, Clemmons spent time as an offensive intern at Eastern Kentucky University and as a graduate assistant at the University of Tennessee.

Clemmons would eventually become an offensive quality control coach and assistant offensive line coach for the Raiders and in four seasons in the Silver and Black also was an offensive quality coach in 2020-21.

The Raiders' offensive line has registered consecutive successful seasons, as in 2022 it would pave the way for running back Josh Jacobs to lead the NFL in rushing.

Jacobs again was near the top of the league in rushing this season before sustaining an injury late in  the year.

In both seasons, the Raiders' offensive line sustained injuries and relied heavily on the coaching staff to get the most out of a much-maligned group of players.

In a league where things are rarely perfect for a team or its coaches, Bricillo, Clemmons and the rest of the Raiders coaching staff helped guide Las Vegas' offensive line to new heights and did so without having the best possible talent.

The coaches' work with the Raiders offensive line over the last two seasons has earned them well-deserved opportunities with other teams around the NFL.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
