Should the Raiders Bring Back Casey Hayward Jr.?

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders cornerback room could use some veteran leadership and experience.
The average age of their cornerbacks is 24.4, and the oldest player in the room is 28-year-old Brandon Facyson.
While cornerback production usually starts to fall past a player’s age-30 season, having a player above 30 could benefit all the young players in the room.
The Raiders have some young cornerbacks who have shown flashes of talent. Nate Hobbs had a solid rookie season before being injured, and inconsistent play derailed his second season. David Long and Amik Robertson have proven they can be consistent contributors. Jakorian Bennett has a lot of promise as a rookie.
These young players have talent, but having a veteran in the locker room to show them the way is always beneficial. That veteran could be Casey Hayward Jr., who finds himself on the free-agent market after being released by the Atlanta Falcons in April. Hayward was with the Raiders in 2021.
In his one season in the Silver and Black, Hayward posted 46 tackles, nine pass breakups, and an interception.
In his career, he has posted 448 tackles, 13 tackles for losses, 112 pass breakups, and 25 interceptions. He was a two-time Pro Bowler with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Hayward signed a two-year contract in the 2022 offseason with the Falcons but only appeared in six games before a shoulder injury ended his season.
Hayward will turn 34 at the beginning of the regular season. Last season was the first time in a long time that he dealt with a major injury, but he was released with a failed physical designation, and the injury came in his age-33 season.
When he was on the field for the Falcons last season, he was an impactful defensive player but often dealt with nagging injuries. If the Raiders were to sign him, he would likely play a limited amount of snaps, but his veteran presence would be invaluable.
Casey Hayward has exhibited excellent play throughout his career, but as he gets older, he could offer more value as a veteran presence for the Raiders’ young cornerbacks.
The Raiders' offseason workout schedule is as follows:
OTA Offseason workouts: May 22-23, May 25, May 31-June 2, June 12-15
Mandatory Minicamp: June 6-8
