The Las Vegas Raiders have just begun their offseason program, a chance for them to get a very early look at the pieces they will have heading into the 2023 regular season.

This of course includes players with expiring contracts. The Raiders have a number of players who are set to hit the free agent market after the season.

One of those players is starting center Andre James. Having stability at the center position is incredibly important in not only building an offensive line, but to the construction of an entire offense.

Today, we’ll take a closer look at James and see if he could be in the Silver and Black long term.

James went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft and was signed by the Raiders as a free agent. He spent the first two seasons of his career playing tackle, but moved to center in 2021.

James -- along with left tackle Kolton Miller -- played every offensive snap of the 2021 season, and James allowed only two sacks. Last season he missed two games, but still played 964 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.

James heads into the 2023 season as the Raiders’ man in the middle in the final year of his contract. He has been an iron man for the last two seasons, missing only two games. With another season of durability and good play, he could make a very good case for himself to be the Raiders’ starting center for the future.
