Carlson Now Joined By Younger Brother as an NFL Kicker

The Green Bay Packers drafted kicker Anders Carlson, brother of Las Vegas Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson, in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro kicker Daniel Carlson has proven himself to be one of the best at his position in recent years.

Now, another Carlson will be playing on the NFL stage, as the Green Bay Packers drafted Carlson's younger brother, Anders Carlson in the sixth round (207th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft.

What makes the narrative even more interesting is the fact that the brothers will be on opposing sidelines rather soon, as Green Bay will come to Allegiant Stadium in Week 5 of the 2023 season for a Monday Night Football showdown.

While each brother will be hoping to come away victorious in that October matchup, their support for one another is what would be expected from a brotherhood.

Daniel Carlson, the middle brother of three, was Anders Carlson's inspiration to participate in the game of football many years ago.

"We all played soccer and once I transitioned to football, that's when he became interested," Daniel Carlson said when he addressed the media Friday. "He'd kick on the sideline at my football games and stuff. And same thing, he thought he was going to be a soccer player and I guess we weren't good enough and fell into football. So, it worked out. But it'll be fun to see what happens with him and his career. And hopefully I'll get to play against him in Week 5."

While the two brothers are now both NFL kickers, Daniel Carlson is obviously a ways ahead of Anders Carlson in regards to their respective football journeys, but the former is eager to see where the latter's takes him.

"I mean, he's his own kicker," Daniel Carlson said. "We are different in a lot of ways and personality-wise. He looks identical to me. He's about 6-foot-5 and probably weighs about the same. I'm probably more muscular than him, though. But I mean it's different coming from college to the NFL, for sure. Obviously, I'm familiar with some of those coaches up there in Green Bay.

"So, I'm excited for his opportunities he's going to have to compete, especially as a rookie and prove himself in those preseason games, in camp and stuff. But so far he's done well, so I'm excited to pull for him and cheer for him until we play him."

The Silver and Black open the preseason by hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.
