In this story:

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- When former fourth-round draft pick Jack Jones was claimed off waivers by the Las Vegas Raiders last month, it was essentially a second chance at an NFL career.

It would be an understatement to say the 26-year-old cornerback has taken and run with it.

On Monday, Jones recorded his second pick-six of the season against arguably the best quarterback in the league, Patrick Mahomes. The play served as a defining point in the contest, giving Las Vegas its second and final touchdown of the day and a 10-point lead. The Raiders' only two touchdowns of the day came from the defensive side of the ball.

Raiders interim Head Coach Antonio Pierce is proud of Jones and the secondary's confidence as of late.

"That group, that secondary, the way they're playing, very confident," Pierce told our own Hondo S. Carpenter Sr. after the game. "Again, I'm going to go back to film study, watching film.

"And then, we talked about this earlier in the week back in Vegas -- see it, believe it, go get it. And he [Jones] did just that.

"I think the one thing everybody's seeing with this Raider team is a group that's playing together, having fun with one another, loving one another, playing with a bigger purpose, a will to win, a fight to win, and not ever giving up."

Jones also recorded five tackles in Monday's win, which now puts him at 20 combined tackles for the Raiders this season. He also has totaled three passes defensed.

Jones' pick-six on Monday was already the third of his two-year NFL career. Those interceptions returned for touchdowns tie him for the most ever by an NFL player in the first 22 games of their career.

Monday's game served as Jones' first start in five games as a Raider.

The Silver and Black continue the season on New Year's Eve versus the Indianapolis Colts in Indianapolis.
