Last week, the Las Vegas Raiders waived veteran fullback Jakob Johnson.

Following the move, Raiders Interim Coach Antonio Pierce told the media: "We'll be fine there, and then, hopefully something works out in the near future to get [Johnson] back."

Lo and behold, that hope was fulfilled Tuesday when the club announced it has signed Johnson to the practice squad.

Before Johnson was waived last week, the second-year Raiders fullback missed Las Vegas' game against the New York Giants after sustaining a concussion in Week 8 to the Detroit Lions.

Johnson played in each of the previous seven games.

In total, Johnson has played in 25 games for the Silver and Black, including every one last season. He has logged 416 offensive snaps and 225 special teams snaps during that time.

Before joining the Silver and Black in 2022, Johnson spent his first three NFL seasons with the New England Patriots, with whom he played a total of 37 games. He recorded 83 receiving yards and a touchdown while with New England.

Johnson entered the NFL through the International Player Pathway Program back in 2019. A native of Stuttgart, Germany, Johnson previously played for the Stuttgart Scorpions of the German Football League, whom he joined after playing at the University of Tennessee.

As part of Tuesday's roster move, the Raiders also announced they have released tight end Jesse James from the practice squad.

James was signed to the Raiders' practice squad on Nov. 8. Before that, he was released by the New Orleans Saints as part of their August roster cuts.

James was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Penn State. He played four seasons in Pittsburgh, making 36 starts in 56 games.

The veteran tight end then played two seasons with the Detroit Lions, one with the Chicago Bears and two games with the Cleveland Browns.

The Silver and Black will return home next week to celebrate Thanksgiving and take on their AFC West rival, the Kansas City Chiefs, on Sunday, November 26, at 4:25 p.m. EST/1:25 p.m. PST.
