Jimmy Garoppolo Out Sunday Against Chicago Bears

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders have officially ruled quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo out for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field in Chicago. It will mark the second game Garoppolo has missed this season because of an injury.
Garoppolo did not practice this week because of a back injury he sustained last Sunday against the New England Patriots. The Raiders will now have a choice to make.
With Garoppolo officially out, Coach Josh McDaniels will have to decide between starting veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer or rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell.
The Raiders are prepared for this situation, and it could be a valuable learning experience for O'Connell, should be declared the starting quarterback come Sunday.
After being thrown into the fire in against Khalil Mack and the Los Angeles Chargers, O'Connell would be facing a defense that should be much more able to attack for a rookie quarterback.
The Raiders are prepared for this situation, and it could be a valuable learning experience for O'Connell, should he be declared the starting quarterback on Sunday.
Although nothing has been confirmed, most people around the organization believe that McDaniels will start O'Connell on Sunday in Chicago and see how the Garoppolo progresses in the following weeks.
Garoppolo's back injury is another in a long list of injuries for the veteran quarterback. The Raiders were more than prepared for this situation. It is why they drafted O'Connell in the fourth round. It is also a major part of the reason Hoyer was signed to the roster.
The Raiders will have until Sunday morning to officially announce who their starter will be against the Bears. This could give the Raiders a little bit of a competitive advantage, as Chicago will enter Sunday not knowing which quarterback they will face.
The Silver and Black will head out on the road to take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1:05 p.m. EDT/10:05 a.m. PDT.
