INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Notre Dame sent one of the best offensive prospects to the league in last year's NFL Draft, tight end Michael Mayer of the Las Vegas Raiders.

This year, the Fighting Irish are set to send two of the top offensive tackles in this year's draft class, Joe Alt and Blake Fisher. As the two prospects prepare to take the next step in their football journeys, they have the benefit of receiving support from Mayer, a player they each looked to for guidance during their time at Notre Dame.

"Me and Michael had a great relationship," Alt said at the NFL Combine on Saturday. "I lean on him a lot. When I kind of got to play my freshman year because he also did as a true freshman, I kind of leaned on him and how he went through the change of going to high school and expecting to play as a freshman.

"So, we have a great relationship, and he's reached out to me throughout the process as well."

Fisher entered the program with Alt and also was a year behind Mayer at Notre Dame.

"I kind of talked to Mike like a week and a half before I came out here," Fisher said. "I just kind of asked him what the process is like, what to expect. I love big Mike.

"He's always been kind of that guy who I've looked up to just to ask questions and kind of been a mentor."

Mayer was one of the Raiders' top rookies last season and showed signs of how great he could be down the road.

"He had a great rookie season," Fisher said. "I mean, he did what he had to do out there, took care of business when given the opportunity, and I thought he went out and balled."

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
