Jacobs Nominated for Ground Player of the Week Again

Despite a Las Vegas Raiders loss, running back Josh Jacobs has been nominated for the Week 12 FedEx Ground Player of the Week award for his performance against the Kansas City Chiefs, the NFL revealed this week.

It is the second time this season he has been nominated for the award.

Jacobs turned in a 110-yard rushing outing in the loss, which included a 63-yard rushing touchdown.

That made Jacobs one of three candidates for the award. The other two are San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey and Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams.

McCaffrey rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns in the 49ers' 31-13 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Thanksgiving. The two-time Pro Bowler is leading the league in rushing yards with 939.

Earlier this season, McCaffrey was the FedEx Ground Player of the Week for Week 4, Week 2 and Week 1. He had not been nominated since.

Williams recorded 143 rushing yards in the Rams' 37-14 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

In what is his second NFL season, he is leading the league in rushing yards per game with 85.6.

Williams' performance on Sunday followed a four-game absence due to an ankle injury. He sustained the injury in Week 6, when he was last nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week award for a 158-yard, one-touchdown game that also came against the Cardinals.

Jacobs and the Raiders' running game as a whole got off to a slow start this season, but the league's reigning rushing champion has found his stride again in recent weeks. In three of the Raiders' last four games, Jacobs has rushed for at least 98 yards.

And, Jacobs leads the NFL in touches with 255 and he has 771 yards rushing this season.
