Josh McDaniels: Josh Allen is 'Not Just a Quarterback'

In this story:
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has established himself as arguably a top-three quarterback in the National Football League.
Normally, it's the Las Vegas Raiders' greatest foes, the Kansas City Chiefs, who get the big showdowns with Allen, especially in the playoffs.
For the first time since 2020, though, the Raiders will get their shot at the two-time Pro Bowler when Las Vegas takes on the Bills on Sunday at Highmark Stadium in East Rutherford, N.Y.
The Raiders are familiar with going up against great quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert, who reside in their division, while Allen presents a unique task.
"He's a challenge for everybody," Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels said when he addressed the media on Wednesday. "This is one of the premiere players in this league. I've obviously had an opportunity to compete against him a number of times. He's an incredible competitor. Really tough football player. He's a football player. He's not just a quarterback. I mean he can hurt you with his mind, he can hurt you with his arm, he can hurt you with his legs, he can hurt you with his shoulder -- dropping his shoulder and running through people. He wants the ball in his hands in all the 'gotta have it' situations.
"He just does a tremendous job of leading their football team. He's a really good leader, and obviously, they play hard for him. So, there's so many challenges he presents. You try to contain him, try to limit some of the production that you can. But he's going to make his fair share of plays, and you got to just try to make it as hard as you can on him to not let that get out of hand."
When the Raiders went up against Allen in Week 4 of the 2020 NFL season, the eventual MVP runner-up passed for 288 yards and two touchdowns en route to Buffalo's 30-23 victory.
The Silver and Black remain on the road this week as they travel to play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 1:05 p.m. EDT/10:05 a.m. PDT.
