Josh Jacobs is one of the best running backs in the league. The Las Vegas Raiders, however, also have another back capable of playing a prominent role on offense.

In this story:

The Las Vegas Raiders have one of the best running backs in the league, Josh Jacobs. As Las Vegas did with most positions, they were sure to match Jacobs' veteran presence with young and talented players behind him on the depth chart.

During Zamir White's tenure with the Raiders, Jacobs has received most of the carries for Las Vegas in the last two seasons. Rightfully so, Jacobs led the National Football League in rushing last season and was near the top of the league in rushing yards this season before missing the previous two games due to a quad injury.

With Jacobs sustaining an injury against the Minnesota Vikings, they turned to their trio of backs behind Jacobs on the depth chart -- Zamir White, Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden.

Last week, the Raiders were without Jacobs on a short week against the Los Angeles Chargers. Las Vegas called upon White, Abdullah and Bolden to carry the load against the Los Angeles Chargers in Jacobs' absence.

White led the way with 17 carries on 69 yards, while Abdullah and Bolden rushed for 32 yards and 25 yards, respectively, as the unit rushed for more than 100 yards.

White would follow up his performance against the Chargers with an even more impressive game on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs.

White's first four carries were for at least four yards or more. He would finish the game averaging nearly seven yards per carry en route to a 145-yard game.

His 145 yards on 22 carries against the Chiefs on the road in a must-win game for the Raiders included runs that set the tone for Las Vegas' offense. Many of those yards came on drives that would help the Raiders seal their victory against Kansas City.

How healthy Jacobs is remains to be seen, but with the way White is running the ball, there is no need to rush Jacobs back and risk further injury.

As the end of the season nears, the Raiders will undoubtedly have decisions to make on their roster. Some will be tougher to make than others.

White's performance against the Chargers was respectable. His performance against the Chiefs was more than respectable; it was a statement.

The Silver and Black continue the season on New Year's Eve versus the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Don't miss it on Sunday, December 31, at 1 p.m. EST/10 a.m. PST.
