The Las Vegas Raiders’ passing attack has been solid so far this season.

The Raiders are 14th in the NFL in passing yards per game at 236.4, with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo throwing for five touchdowns, which ranks eighth in the NFL.

Garoppolo is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers while he remains in concussion protocol, and if he is unable to play, either veteran Brian Hoyer or rookie Aidan O’Connell will get the opportunity to start.

The Raiders’ wide receiver group has a chance to have a big day on Sunday, no matter who is at quarterback. The Chargers’ secondary has struggled this season, and might be without some key contributors.

Star safety Derwin James did not practice all week and is doubtful for the game. Breakout safety Alohi Gilman was limited in practice on Friday and is listed as questionable. Safety JT Woods has been ruled out for the game because an illness.

This leaves a Chargers secondary that has allowed the most passing yards in the NFL potentially without two starters and a depth piece, so a unit that has not played well this season could be down two of its best players and an important contributor.

Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams is off to a hot start this season with 25 receptions for 322 yards and three touchdowns, while wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has 16 receptions for 166 yards and two touchdowns in two games. Wide receiver Hunter Renfrow has not gotten involved much this season, but has the opportunity to get going against a banged up Chargers defense.

If Garoppolo misses the game and one of the Raiders’ other quarterbacks were to start, the underneath routes from Meyers and Renfrow would be an easy option to move the ball. Adams should expect his regular number of targets as well, as he is the first option in the passing game.

With an already struggling Chargers’ secondary potentially even more depleted, the Raiders wide receivers could be in for a big day. For a team looking to avoid losing their third straight game, the Raiders will need their passing attack to be efficient on Sunday.

The Silver and Black return to the road this week in Inglewood, Calif., to play the Los Angeles Chargers (1-2) on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 4:05 p.m. EDT/1:05 p.m. PDT.
