Raiders' New Offensive Coordinator Ranked

The Las Vegas Raiders have overhauled their offensive coaching staff this offseason. They aim to improve their offense on and off the field next season.

The Las Vegas Raiders' biggest issue this season was their offense.

While the Raiders had talent at certain spots across the roster offensively, they struggled to play well consistently throughout the season.

Las Vegas' offense still needs to be rebuilt, specifically their offensive line. The Raiders will soon begin making the necessary adjustments to their roster to improve next season.

However, they've already completed the task of solidifying their coaching staff. As much as the Raiders' offensive issues were because of the lack of execution of their players, some of the problem was that they didn't have an offensive coordinator who could get the most out of the players given to him.

The Las Vegas Raiders hired Luke Getsy as their new offensive coordinator.

The Las Vegas Raiders hired Luke Getsy as their new offensive coordinator.

Coach Antonio Pierce and the Raiders think they've found the coach to do just that in new Offensive Coordinator Luke Getsy.

The veteran coach joined the Raiders after spending the last two seasons with the Chicago Bears. The 33rd Team's Film Analyst Derrik Klassen ranked Getsy as the 27th best play-caller in the NFL.

"Luke Getsy spent the last two seasons calling plays for the Chicago Bears with Justin Fields as his quarterback," Klassen said. "Fields is a sort of complicating factor in Getsy's evaluation.

"On one hand, Fields' athleticism and creativity helped mask how stale the offense was at times. On the other hand, Fields' limitations -- namely quick-game passing and anticipation over the middle of the field -- severely limited Getsy's playbook."

Although Getsy didn't work out in Chicago, Raiders Defensive Coordinator Patrick Graham didn't work out with the New York Giants.

Getsy has the chance to prove himself in Las Vegas, similar to how Graham did when given another opportunity.

"It's hard to know exactly who holds what portion of the blame for the Bears offense never quite figuring itself out," Klassen said. "Regardless, Getsy was not an abject disaster in Chicago and deserves another chance to prove himself."

People have bet against Antonio Pierce and been wrong his entire career.  A stamp of approval from Pierce on Getsy should be all Raider Nation needs to believe in him.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
