The Las Vegas Raiders wasted no time making a monumental move at the start of their bye week.

According to sources, the Raiders released three-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Peters on Monday.

Peters had been pulled from the Raiders' game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, a move Interim Coach Antonio Pierce confirmed after the game had not been due to injury.

Pierce would not say anything more on the matter, merely stating it was "a coach's decision."

The interim coach went into more detail in his Monday press conference.

"We just decided to move forward," Pierce said. "We wish Marcus Peters the best. We had a great conversation last night, a great conversation this morning. And we'll just -- we'll stick with that."

Peters was signed by Las Vegas as a free agent late in July. He played only 12 games for the Silver and Black, totaling 43 combined tackles, a tackle for a loss, five passes defensed and an interception returned for a touchdown.

The former All-Pro previously played two-plus seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. He recorded 99 combined tackles, three for losses, two sacks, six forced fumbles, 25 passes defensed and eight interceptions.

In his first season in Baltimore, Peters was traded after six games to the Los Angeles Rams. He would be selected to the second All-Pro First Team of his career.

Peters received his first All-Pro honors in just his second NFL season, when he was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs. The selection came just a year after Peters was selected to the Pro Bowl as a rookie.

Regarding where things go regarding the void Peters leaves, Pierce is eager for the opportunity his up-and-comers have going into these final five games.

"You don't really replace anybody," Pierce said. "It's the next-man-up mentality, right? And we've got some young guys there -- JB [Jakorian Bennett], Jack Jones just got here. Hopefully we get some more guys healthy and in the mix, and it's just a great opportunity for some of our younger players."

The Silver and Black will return home to Allegiant Stadium to take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, December 10, at 4:05 p.m. EST/1:05 p.m. PST.
