The Las Vegas Raiders have been competing with the Los Angeles Rams in joint practices this week, and the teams will square off in a preseason game on Saturday.

As part of these joint practices, each of the team’s best players will compete against each other on the field.

For Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby, getting a chance to match up with Rams offensive tackle Rob Havenstein, who is one of the more underrated offensive linemen in the league, is valuable.

After competing against Havenstein, Crosby had a chance to converse with him and they passed knowledge between each other.

Crosby addressed the media after the joint practice on Wednesday and spoke about what it is like to have the opportunity to match up with players like Havenstein.

“I love it,” Crosby said. “Me and Rob [Havenstein], we went against each other in camp two years ago, we played against each other last year during the season. So yeah, we’re constantly just talking, and he’s asking me questions, I’m asking him questions, and just about the little things, the little details. He’s asking me what am I seeing, how am I keying on the ball, am I keying on his heel, am I keying on the little things, and we just go back and forth. So any time we get to have those conversations, like last week with Trent Williams, it’s the same thing. We’re just trying to improve, and that’s what I try to do every day.”

Crosby has made it a point of emphasis to try to learn from offensive lineman and monitor their behaviors and movements so he can be better in games. That effort has worked in the last few years, as he has increased his sack totals and made two straight Pro Bowls.

Havenstein is an excellent lineman to learn from, a tackle who has started 116 games in the last eight seasons. Havenstein also played over 1,000 snaps last season and earned a 73.2 Pro Football Focus grade.

As the Raiders and Rams will match up in a preseason game this weekend, Crosby and Havenstein are spending the week lining up against each other, trying to get better at their respective positions.

The Silver and Black return to preseason action when they play the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 9 p.m. EDT/6 p.m. PDT.
