The Las Vegas Raiders offense is going to look vastly different this season.

With a new starting quarterback for the first time in nearly a decade in Jimmy Garoppolo, Coach Josh McDaniels will run his system with a player who is familiar with it.

Garoppolo comes to the Raiders after being part of several successful teams in New England and San Francisco. Throughout his career, Garoppolo has thrown for 14,289 yards and 87 touchdowns.

Behind Garoppolo, the Raiders brought in veteran backup Brian Hoyer, who joins his ninth team in 15 years. Hoyer also spent time with McDaniels in New England. The team drafted Purdue quarterback Aidan O’Connell in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and he's a player who has the potential to be the team’s quarterback of the future.

If Garoppolo has to miss any playing time because of injury, there are players capable of carrying the load while he recovers.

Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs has yet to sign his franchise tag, and if he misses any time, second-year running back Zamir White should see an increased workload. Running backs in McDaniels’ system has been successful in the past, so White could have a productive season if he receives more carries.

The team added several new faces to the expansive receiver room, including Jakobi Meyers, another player familiar with McDaniels and his system. They also brought in Phillip Dorsett, DeAndre Carter, and Cam Sims and drafted Tre Tucker in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Davante Adams, one of the league’s best receivers, returns after another excellent season. Hunter Renfrow hopes to remain healthy this year and has some of the most reliable hands in the league. Keelan Cole could also see a more significant role. Garoppolo has plenty of weapons at his disposal.

The tight end room lost some heavy hitters in Darren Waller and Foster Moreau but brought in capable veterans O.J. Howard and Austin Hooper. They also added the dynamic Michael Mayer out of Notre Dame in the draft's second round.

One of the bright spots of this Raiders offense is their offensive line. The unit of Kolton Miller, Dylan Parham, Andre James, Alex Bars, and Jermaine Eluemunor all return after an impressive 2022.

The Raiders' offense differs from last season, and several players can make dynamic plays. Having Garoppolo back with McDaniels should allow the system to operate at its most efficient level.

The Raiders must keep pace in a division with explosive offenses to be competitive.
