Raiders Offensive Line Gets Top 10 Recognition

The Las Vegas Raiders got great recognition before their Week 16 Christmas Day game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

In a recent Pro Football Focus article, the website ranked among the best offensive line rankings ahead of Week 16 as the Raiders have the 10th-best offensive line in the NFL.

The Raiders have had to deal with injuries on the offensive line these last few weeks and relied on the backups stepping in and taking over. They also had to deal with a make-shift offensive line as well.

In Week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Raiders were without center Andre James and left tackle Kolton Miller. In James's absence, left guard Dylan Parham played center, while Jordan Meredith took over and played left guard.

This week, offensive coordinator Bo Hardegree spoke to the media about Meredith stepping in for the Raiders offensive line.

"Again, it's a great opportunity for somebody to go out there on a big-time showcase and he played well," Hardegree said. "He's physical, he's smart, he's tough. And he's shown that all through, even in the spring, in the Fall, he just keeps progressing. And [assistant coaches] Carmen [Bricillo] and Cam [Clemmons] have done a great job with him."

In the dominant 63-21 victory over the Chargers, the Raiders' offensive line had a phenomenal performance in pass protection. The unit allowed only nine pressures on 37 drop-backs and recorded the eighth-highest pass-blocking efficiency rating in Week 15.

Pro Football Focus highlights right guard Greg Van Roten as the best player on the Silver and Black offensive line.

Van Roten has earned himself an 80.6 pass-blocking grade this season, the third-highest ranking among NFL guards.

The Raiders have the second-best offensive line rankings in the AFC West, trailing the Denver Broncos, who are listed at No. 5.
