The Las Vegas Raiders are looking to add talent to every position on the team, with multiple holes to fill.

This includes the defensive side of the ball, especially at the linebacker position. The Raiders signed Robert Spillane to a two-year deal but don’t have much depth at that position, nor do they have very many long-term answers.

The team currently has six linebackers under contract. Divine Deablo had a solid season before sustaining an injury. Outside of him and Spillane, the Raiders’ linebacker room might need some additions.

Fortunately for the Raiders, star Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Devin White has reportedly requested a trade, according to ESPN’s Jenna Laine. White, a Pro Bowler in 2021, is entering his fifth year in the NFL and will likely be looking for a contract extension.

Let’s take a closer look at White and see if the Raiders should explore trading for him.

White was selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, one pick after the Raiders took defensive end Clelin Ferrell, who is no longer with the team.

In his career with the Buccaneers, White has posted 483 total tackles, 35 tackles for losses, 15 pass break ups, six forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries -- two for touchdowns -- and one interception. He was a Second-Team All-Pro in 2020.

White is only 25 years old and is one of the better young linebackers in the NFL. If the Buccaneers do entertain trade offers, his market should no doubt be very large.

The Raiders are a team in a position with the draft capital and cap space to be able to acquire White if they decide to pursue him. It would likely take multiple draft picks and the understanding that White will want to be paid to acquire him.

If a young, talented linebacker like Devin White actually does hit the trade market, the Raiders might want to look into trading for him, as he would immediately make their defense better and give them a long-term star in the middle of their defense.

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period began at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.

The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this offseason.
