Raiders vs. Patriots Live Game Updates, Analysis

The Las Vegas Raiders (2-3) are looking for their first winning streak of the season vs. the New England Patriots (1-3), and we have all the up-to-the-minute updates for you.

LAS VEGAS, Nev.--The Las Vegas Raiders (2-3) are looking to establish their first winning streak of the 2023 season and to send a message that the season is back on track.

This is the biggest game of the Josh McDaniels era as the leader of the Silver and Black, and the game's enormity can't be under-sold.

Additionally, this season, we are excited to invite you to comment on the game in real time, as we have now added a comment section that we will be checking on throughout the game.

Remember the rule of five. The game is over if the Raiders win that key statistical battle. It concerns sacks and turnovers for those who don't remember it. If the Raiders have three sacks and give up two, they are plus one. They are plus three if they get four turnovers and give up only one. That would give them a plus-four for the day. They want to get to a plus-five ratio every game. On average, teams that reach the rule of five scenarios win 91 percent of their NFL games.

Las Vegas comes off a crucial Week 5 victory over the Green Bay Packers that snapped its three-game losing streak and put them back in the win column and in position to get back to .500 this week.

Meanwhile, the Patriots were shut out by the New Orleans Saints, 38-0, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

The Raiders and Patriots last met in Week 15 of last season when former Raider edge rusher Chandler Jones intercepted a lateral and took it to the house for a walk-off touchdown.

New England leads the all-time regular season series between the teams, 18-15-1. The Raiders have won only one of their last seven meetings.

The Las Vegas Raiders came out ready to play against the visiting New England Patriots.

For them to maintain their lead in the second half, though, there is still much that needs to be adjusted.

The Raiders' defense looks relatively solid again this week, but some of that is due to the Patriots' three offensive penalties, including one that brought back what would have been a 74-yard touchdown.

A lot of New England's lack of success on offense is due to Las Vegas' domination on the clock, as the Raiders had nearly 20 minutes of possession and almost twice as much as the Patriots.

Offensively, the Raiders need to continue to work on an area that has constantly held them back this season, and that is production in the red zone.

They had to settle for two field goals in the red zone, including one on their first drive that should have resulted in more points after the Raiders were granted new life due to a Patriots penalty on a field-goal attempt.

Las Vegas rookie tight end Michael Mayer is leading the offense with 67 receiving yards, with wide receiver Jakobi Meyers just behind him with 61 receiving yards and a touchdown.

QB UPDATE: Raiders Brian Hoyer is in at quarterback.

BIG PLAY: Hoyer finds Raiders rookie wide receiver Tre Tucker for a 48-yard completion.

PENALTY: Holding against Raiders offensive tackle Thayer Munford Jr.

SCORING UPDATE NO. 6: Carlson is good from 30 yards. Raiders with a 16-10 lead.

SACK: Raiders defensive tackle John Jenkins with a four-yard sack.

END OF THE THIRD QUARTER: Raiders lead, 16-10.

START OF THE FOURTH QUARTER:
