Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast: Addition of Robert Spillane

In this episode of the Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast, we talk with Noah Strackbein from All Steelers, who covered Robert Spillane daily and broke down his game.

HENDERSON, Nev.--Las Vegas Raiders General Manager Dave Ziegler and Coach Josh McDaniels have a plan. While few may be privy to the plan, it is quickly unfolding.

Last week, I broke the news that not only are teams calling the Raiders about trading for wide receiver Hunter Renfrow, but that the Raiders are listening.

The Raiders will certainly be making more moves before the NFL Draft and many more after it.

Today we look at the addition of ILB Robert Spillane and what he brings to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Our guest is Noah Strackbein, my colleague and the Editor and Publisher of All Steelers, who covered Spillane daily as a fantastic beat writer.

Strackbein takes us inside the locker room and tells us what we can expect from Epps in the locker room, on the field, and off.

Strackbein and most of those who pay attention to the Steelers were stunned that the Steelers didn't re-sign him.

The Raiders loved the stamina that Spillane showed.  In the last four games of the 2022 season, he played every snap on defense and special teams.  I asked Spillane last week about his stamina and availability being keys to his game, and he told me, "It's a mentality. You know, you grow up playing football, you play offense, defense, special teams – you play 100 percent of the snaps. I played Chicago Catholic League-style football my whole life, and that's hard-nosed, physical football. So, I built my body to be able to withstand an NFL season and I've proven that over the years, so I look forward to continuing to show that."

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo.

The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period began at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15. The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
