A rumor circulated Monday that former Los Angeles Rams running back Sony Michel had tragically passed away in a fatal motorcycle accident.

Those rumors, originally posted by @BeatinTheBookie on X, the platform formerly known Twitter, were soon proven to be false. Michel posted on X Monday that he was, in fact, alive the whole time with a two-word post.

"Fake news," Michel said on X.

The original post was deleted and followed by an apology and a string of posts about the incorrect information he claimed to have received from multiple sources.

"My sources were incorrect I guess," @BeatinTheBookie said on X. "It was an error to post regardless. Glad to hear he is still with us. Last time I try to report any news. Sorry guys.

"Had two Broward people tell me this. I don’t know why they’d be making it up of all people.

"Was an honest mistake. If I were making it up that would be a very random name to pick. With that said I made a mistake trying to be first, not correct. Two separate parties told me, I will never trust anyone again with news. You guys are right, was a bad, bad move. I am sorry."

The incorrect report comes in the wake of former Seahawks and Ravens running back Alex Collins being killed in a motorcycle accident in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, Sunday. He was 28.

"Shot out to all the white knight Libs tweeting me that I’m a bad person because I made a mistake mixing up names," @BeatinTheBookie said on X Tuesday. "I’m sure you heroes have never made a mistake. Get over it or kiss my a--, the money train keeps rolling."

As an aside: We find it unfortunate that the poster couldn’t simply respond with an apology - to Michel and his family and to his own misled followers as well.

Michel, who retired this offseason at age 28, spent one season with the Rams and rushed for 845 yards and four touchdowns while helping them win a Super Bowl.
