Rams Narrowly-Trail Lions at Halftime of Wild Card Showdown

The Los Angeles Rams have a small hill to climb after halftime against the Detroit Lions.

The Los Angeles Rams trail the Detroit Lions 21-17 at halftime of Sunday night's Wild Card game at Ford Field in what has tuned into a shootout between quarterbacks facing their former team.

The Rams fell behind to the Lions 14-3 early with their only points coming via a 24-yard Brett Maher field goal on their first possession, but L.A. has managed to hang in the back-and-forth affair thanks to countering Detroit's blows on offense.

A 50-yard connection from Matthew Stafford to Puka Nacua closed the score to 14-10, and when the Lions were able to find the end zone again on a Jared Goff pass to Sam LaPorta, the Rams answered with a 38-yard score from Stafford to Tutu Atwell.

The Lions have been rather balanced on offense, seeing a touchdown apiece from running backs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs and one passing score from Goff. Statistically for the Rams, Stafford has thrown for 196 yards and two scores but has not seen much help from his ground game. Running back Kyren Williams leads L.A. in rushing with 22 yards on six carries.

The Lions received to start the game, so Los Angeles will get the ball to begin action in the third quarter. You can follow along for live updates in Detroit here in what is marking the first postseason game in the city in 30 years.
