Rams Fall Short vs. 49ers in L.A. 30-23

The Los Angeles Rams hung tough with the San Francisco 49ers but ultimately fell short at SoFi Stadium

The Los Angeles Rams returned home to SoFi Stadium to take on their second-straight NFC West Opponent on Sunday afternoon in the San Francisco 49ers

And as has been the trend during the Kyle Shanahan tenure, the 49ers once again got the best of Sean McVay and company, with San Francisco winning 30-23 in L.A.

While the Rams were able to hang tough throughout the first half and into the third quarter, the 49ers eventually wore down the more inexperienced L.A. roster, pulling away in the fourth quarter with a game-sealing touchdown pass from Brock Purdy to Deebo Samuel.

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford was able to get his team back within reach on the next drive, leading his team down the field for field goal, and cutting the 49ers lead to 27-20 midway through the fourth quarter.

Ultimately, however, it was too little too late, as the 49ers were able to add a field goal and keep Los Angeles out of the end zone from there.

Stafford was the catalyst of the Rams offense on Sunday, showing great connections with Tutu Atwell and Puka Nacua for the second straight week. However, his two interceptions also proved costly.

Stafford ended the day completing 34 of 55 passes for 307 yards and one touchdown, while Nacua was once again a major target, catching 15 passes for 147 yards on 20 targets.

Meanwhile, Kyren Williams has continued to be one of the Rams top offensive weapons, scoring two more touchdowns on Sunday - one through the air and another on the ground.

Williams finished the day with 14 carries for 52 yards and six catches for 48 more.

With their second-straight NFC West matchup now in the books, the Rams (1-1) will now set their sights on a Super Bowl LVI rematch against the Bengals in Cincinnati.

Kick-off is set for Monday night Football at 5:15 pm PT
