For both the Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints, the 2018-19 NFL season did not end how they had hoped.

The Rams fell short in the Super Bowl, but the Saints had a much rougher final act, stamped in history by a missed pass interference call near the endzone that would have likely allowed them to win the NFC Championship game vs. the Rams.

It's safe to say that because of this muddled outcome, the Saints and Rams are not big fans of each other. They're not afraid to let it be known either.

So as coincidence would have it, the two teams will face off early on once the 2019 season gets underway when the Saints come marching into the Coliseum for a week 2 standoff.

“I’m kind of happy it’s early, I’m going to be honest with you,” Johnson said, via the NFL Network. “A team like that in midseason form is a tough battle. Playing in that dome definitely makes it tougher, so being that early at home, it’s definitely in our favor, but it’s going to be a great game. You know the history just within the past two years that we have, so it’s going to be a great game. I’m looking forward to it.”

Earlier this year, Rams cornerback Aqib Talib echoed that sentiment, saying rather that he wished they faced off in Week 1. Saints defensive lineman Cameron Jordan seemed to disagree, saying he'd rather play the Rams after they had gotten a few games under their belt.

Regardless of when the game takes place, there is sure to be palpable energy in the stands and a lot of bad blood on the field.
