In his first game since his ankle sprain over a month ago, Kyren Williams showed the Los Angeles Rams just how much they missed him.

Facing off against the lowly Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, the same team he injured his ankle against, Williams was the engine that made the offense run. He rushed for 143 yards on just 16 carries to go alongside six receptions for 61 yards and two touchdowns. For Williams, a second-year running back out of Notre Dame, this was easily the best performance of his young, promising career.

Williams' hard work paid off, as on Wednesday, the NFL named him the NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Despite coming off an injury, Williams went into Sunday's game fully expecting to ball out.

“Not really. I was saying on Friday that I’m an artist and this is my canvas," Williams told reporters after the game. "This is really what I love to do. During those four weeks I wasn’t playing but I was still in it. I was still in practice, I was still watching the film and doing everything as if I was playing but I wasn’t playing. I’m not surprised because this is what I love to do, but like I said I thank everybody for being a part of what this win was today.”

Williams missed much of his rookie season with injury, but after the Rams traded Cam Akers early in the season, Williams took the reins and never looked back. In seven games, Williams has rushed for 599 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 5.3 yards per carry while adding 166 yards and three scores as a receiver.

Williams Dominates Cardinals In Return From Injury

With Williams back in the fold, the Rams' offense found an added gear that had been missing during his absence.
