The Los Angeles Rams have been an extremely aggressive team in recent years, not just in the offseason, but during the season as while.

While they were competing for championships, the Rams weren't afraid to take a big swing at the trade deadline. Some of their most notable mid-season trades include bringing in Jalen Ramsey in 2019 and Von Miller in 2021. The latter move worked especially well, as the Rams would go on to win the Super Bowl just a few months later.

This year, though? Rams fans probably shouldn't expect any such big moves at the deadline, at least if coach Sean McVay's comments on Wednesday are anything to go by.

“No, we don't really have the availability," McVay told reporters. "I don't know...you kind of have to have some resources and different things like that for those to be options. So I don't know that those conversations will be as prevalent as maybe in year’s past.”

It's easy to see why the Rams would be more reserved in making trades this year. After last year's 5-12 season, the Rams have tempered their all-out approach to look more toward the future. L.A. is embracing the youth movement this season, and finally has a first-round pick in 2024 for the first time in eight years, so it makes sense to preserve their future assets the best they can.

On the contrary, the Rams have already made some trades during the season, but ones that sent players out rather than bringing them in. Those trades in question were sending Cam Akers to the Minnesota Vikings in September and Van Jefferson to the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday. While the Rams didn't get much back in the way of draft compensation for either player, they did at least get something back for players who weren't in their long-term plans. Additionally, those trades allow some of the youngsters, such as Kyren Williams and Puka Nacua, to get more opportunities.

While only time will tell what exactly the Rams do at the deadline, it seems fair to rule out any big splashes.
