For the first time in his career, Mike Tomlin is coaching a game with a new offensive and defensive leader

Mike Tomlin has never been a person to look at the big picture. He even admitted it himself when asked about entering a game with a new offensive and defensive quarterback. And when asked if he's thought about the impact of heading into Sunday with two second-year players replacing veteran leaders, Tomlin's eyes lit up. "I haven't thought about that."

It's the first time the Steelers head coach will walk into a Sunday having to not only a new quarterback under center, but a new safety trying to control the field.

For Tomlin, it's nothing he isn't prepared for. The Super Bowl winning coach has fought through plenty of injuries during his time in Pittsburgh. He's lost names like Maurkice Pouncey, Le'Veon Bell, Willie Colon, David DeCastro, Larry Foote and many more to IR during his time in Pittsburgh, but never has he lost Ben.

The faith in Mason Rudolph remains strong. A third-round pick out of Oklahoma State, who was set to succeed Roethlisberger in three years, Rudolph was eventually going to walk into this role anyways. But no one expected him to be thrown in during the second quarter of the team's home opener and then told later that night that he'd be leading this team for the remainder of the season.

During his first regular season action in the NFL, Rudolph completed 12-19 passes for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns while trying to lead the Steelers back to victory over Seattle. The loss in Week 2 doesn't sit on the shoulders of Rudolph, meaning for now, there's no reason to believe he can't win football games.

Sunday has more to do with Tomlin than it does Rudolph, though. Of course, the quarterback's ability to play as a starter in this league will grab attention, but no new quarterback wins without strong coaching. Tomlin has been under a lot of scrutiny over the last two weeks, but much of that would fade if he can coach his young QB through a few wins.

On defense, Minkah Fitzpatrick was beginning to leave the minds of Steelers fans and media, and like any good trade, it waited until news begin to quiet before striking.

10pm Monday night sent Pittsburgh into a frenzy. After 24 hours of losing their home opener, their starting quarterback and declaring the season over, news broke of the move - Minkah Fitzpatrick was headed to Pittsburgh.

Little did we know, it was coming just in time. Sean Davis' shoulder injury he suffered in Week 2 sidelined him for the remained of the game, and was followed by a placement on IR by Tuesday morning. In a span of a day, the Steelers lost their offensive and defensive quarterbacks to injury.

During his Tuesday press conference, Tomlin said Fitzpatrick will start at free safety in Week 3. Unlike the Dolphins, Pittsburgh intends to "anchor" the defensive back at one position - giving him less positions to learn, but a significant amount of importance to the position he'll be playing as a first-time Steeler.

Bringing it back to Tomlin. It can't be stressed enough how important the quarterback and free safety position are for a team. Anyone who's watched football understands that there are many positions that require a sense of all 11 men on the field, but none more than these two.

Tomlin isn't thinking too deep into his new lineup, but we are. Sunday brings a challenge the X-year head coach has yet to see. A challenge many have already proclaimed to be detrimental to the Steelers' season. A challenge Mike Tomlin knows he needs to overcome. "It is our (coaches) job to keep this train rolling."
