PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will hold their breath in the leadup to kickoff against the Cleveland Browns as they await final injury news on a pair of important pieces from the defensive secondary.

Steelers defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said that he anticipates safeties Minkah Fitzpatrick and Keeanu Neal will be gametime decisions this week as they try to work through their respective injuries. Neither participated in practice to start the week.

Fitzpatrick has been sidelined for the past two games with a hamstring injury that he suffered in the Jagaurs game. He's been "battling" to get back this week, According to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Neal suffered a rib injury late in the Steelers' win over the Packers. He had hauled in a crucial interception late in the fourth quarter then was hit hard after bringing the ball out over the 20-yard line.

The Steelers are remarkably thin at safety and would be happy to get either Neal or Fitzpatrick back to pair with Damontae Kazee. If they can't play, the Steelers will likely roll with Miles Killebrew and Elijah Riley to fill the void. Trenton Thompson is another option after being called up to the active roster from the practice squad last week.
