Mike Tomlin says Minkah Fitzpatrick and defense 'impressed' in Week 3

A bright spot in a game that claimed the Steelers third loss of the 2019 season was found by head coach Mike Tomlin. Despite giving up 24 points to the 49ers' offense, the Steelers' defense did produce five turnovers.
Of those five, Minkah Fitzpatrick was one of them. Intercepting his first pass as a Steeler, Tomlin says he was 'impressed' with the play of his newest safety, along with the rest of the Steelers' defense. Fitzpatrick finished with 5 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble.
"[I] was really impressed with his ability to learn and learn in a short period of time," Tomlin said. "And kudos does not only go to him, but in an effort to simplify things for him we asked some additional things of others and for the large part we got what we needed there."
The defense accumulated three fumbles and two interceptions despite losing their third-straight. Despite a promising effort and a strong debut for Fitzpatrick, the Steelers will need to take another step forward in their efforts to win their first game of the season.
