DeAndre Hopkins Passes Physical, Officially Signs with Titans Per Report from Jordan Schultz

The Tennessee Titans signing DeAndre Hopkins feels like it happened a long time ago, but according to a report from Jordan Schultz, Hopkins officially signed his deal with the Titans the day before training camp kicks off.

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans finally got word that they would be signing DeAndre Hopkins just over a week ago, but we have not gotten word of Hopkins officially signing his deal. That changed with a report on Monday from Jordan Schultz saying that Hopkins passed his physical and officially signed his deal.

It feels like forever ago that we got the initial Hopkins news, but since that moment we have yet to see anything official or get the details of Hopkins' new contract, but that all should be coming from the team shortly after this sourced report.

How the Titans handle that contract structure will be interesting. As we know, Titans safety Kevin Byard moved money around on his deal to allow the Titans more flexibility to bring in Hopkins, but the Titans can still get creative with Hopkins' deal to limit how much he hits the salary cap.

I charted out an example of how this can be done by referencing Odell Beckham Jr's contract with the Baltimore Ravens. Giving the player a high bonus with a low salary then using void years at the end of the deal make it possible for the Titans to keep Hopkins' cap hit low.

The Titans will likely use this structure or something similar, but either way we should have the details on what the Titans have done shortly now that Hopkins has officially signed. If the report is correct, obviously.

The Titans begin training camp on Tuesday and should hit the field by Wednesday. Hopkins appears ready to go and that is critical for the Titans' offense that is learning a new offense and trying to make major improvements. They will need time gel with new pieces.

With Hopkins now officially onboard, the push to the regular season can officially begin for the Titans. The roster is intact and it is time for camp.
