Hopkins, Patriots Uncertainty Creates Excitement for Titans Fans

In this story:
NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans pursuit of DeAndre Hopkins has begun. Hopkins has already confirmed, via his personal Instagram account, that he is in Nashville for the expected visit. Titans fans, and maybe the organization as well, are hoping it is Hopkins only visit and they may get their wish.

Hopkins has another visit lined up with the New England Patriots, but some comments from Patriots media and Patriots coach Bill Belichick have put that visit in doubt. While odds are the visit still takes place and this is just a miscommunication, it could be more.

Belichick was asked directly if Hopkins was visiting on Tuesday. His answer was non-committal.
"Talked to him. Working through it. Not sure," Belichick advised.
Titans fans took this opportunity to celebrate. If the Patriots do not have their visit, that would be great news for the Titans as it could mean Hopkins decided the Titans were the right team for him off his one visist.
However, if you look at Belichick's full comments a little closer, this seems like Belichick playing coy and just not giving out details as a method to troll the media, a move we know Belichick loves.
Bill Belichick on the uncertainty about DeAndre Hopkins’ visit:
— Casey Baker (@_CaseyBaker) June 12, 2023
“He asked me about the date. I am not sure. We are working through it. I don’t really have anything to add to that. It relates more to the logistics and things like that. I’m not a travel agent here.” pic.twitter.com/jVLyWcJkXz
"It relates more to the logistics and things like that," Belichick explained.
That is the key sentence here. To me, this seems more of a "we don't know when he will get here exactly" more than a "we don't know if he is coming" answer. So, it is very likely that any excitement Titans fans felt was misplaced. Odds are Hopkins still makes his visit and many others.
However, we have to acknowledge the reality that Belichick could be speaking honestly and the uncertainty is real. In my opinion, the Titans are a much better fit for Hopkins than the Patriots are and Hopkins could know that already too.
There is a possibility that Hopkins wants to play for the Titans and the scheduled visit with New England is just a way of negotiating with the Titans to increase the offer he would receive. If that is the case, however unlikely, than Titans fans are free to be as excited as they want to be.
