NASHVILLE -- With the offseason here, bold predictions are bound to start happening around the league. In a bold prediction, ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington said on the network's popular 'Get Up' show that the Tennessee Titans should consider trading running back Derrick Henry to the Buffalo Bills in the final year of his contract.

In today's pass-heavy NFL, some teams around the league tend to shy away from paying their star running backs, but the Tennessee Titans signed the All-Pro running back to a 4-year, $50 million deal during the 2020 offseason. 'The King,' as fans of the team and others around the league like to call Henry, has been nothing short of outstanding over the last several seasons.

Henry has rushed for over 1,000 yards in four out of his seven seasons with the Titans and quickly ascended into one of the league's top running backs. Over the last three seasons, Henry has rushed for a combined 4,502 yards and 40 touchdowns, which is quite impressive given how much Tennessee has relied on its back in recent years.

Henry is set to make $16.3 million in 2023 and will then potentially become a free agent, unless the Titans can find a way to extend their superstar running back again.

As for the Buffalo Bills, trading for a running back of Henry's caliber wouldn't likely come cheap, especially when you consider the possibility of having to extend him long-term following the 2023 season. While we don't know exactly what a trade of that magnitude would command, my guess is Tennessee would ask for at minimum a first-round pick and possibly more.

Many around the league believe Buffalo's struggles offensively has to do with being too dependent on quarterback Josh Allen. The running game hasn't been as effective for the Bills because of this, and it's shown over their last few playoff runs.

While trading for Henry would certainly be a bold move for the Bills, it would undoubtedly make their rushing offense instantly better and potentially provide the team with a long-term solution at running back for next several seasons.
